History of China CITIC Bank Online

Towards the end of 1984, with the needs for economic development, CITIC chairman Mr. Rong Yiren requested that the Chinese government create a banking division under his company. This request was granted by the State Council and China’s People’s Bank.

By 1985, CITIC established the banking department on the basis of the original financial department, and further expanded the comprehensive banking business such as external financing, foreign exchange transactions, loans, international settlement, financial leasing and deposit taking.
